Calling all 6th grade families! Our first meeting for the 6th grade promotion will be on:
Date: Monday, March 8, 2010
Time: 5:30pm (for about 30 to 45 minutes)
Place: Room F2
Dear 6th grade families,
The 6th grade promotion ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2010 at 8:30 am.
As in years past, the 6th grade families are responsible for decorating the stage, providing lei for each student, and any other “extra” feature.
We would like to invite all 6th grade families to participate in your child’s 6th grade promotion ceremony.
To help make the ceremony a memorable event for our children, we are in need of the following volunteers:
1. Committee Chairs to help organize and coordinate the event.
2. Committee Volunteers to assist the Chairs in planning the event.
3. Volunteers to help with various aspects of the event to include setup and clean up.
If you have questions and/or are interested in volunteering with your child’s promotion ceremony please email: grade6promotion@moanaluapto.org.

The RAP (Read As Partners) Committee is looking for a few volunteers to come and help us post the new RAP coupons up on the library bulletin boards. We will meet from 4-5pm on Wednesday, March 10, outside the library to post the new coupons and bag prizes for the participating children.
Please email rap@moanaluapto.org if you are able to volunteer an hour of your time for this wonderful reading incentive program. Thank you! (and a big “MAHALO” to all the parents who came out last month to help us with RAP!!)

In response to parents’ request for increased access to computers for their children, Mr. Ginlack and Mrs. Gushi have agreed to extend the open hours of the computer lab for MES students.
As you may already know, MES has a computer lab where students learn to be proficient with technology. But did you also know that through technology, MES teachers designed a curriculum that lays the foundation of life-long learning?
To increase access to technology and further support teaching and learning, our school has offered to open the computer lab after school for students to work on homework assignments. Normally closed after school, with the help from volunteers, the computer lab will be open for students to complete home work assignments, and to develop their computer/technology skills.
Please support this collaborative effort to support the technology infused educational experience that MES is developing for our children.
The PTO is asking for volunteers to help open the computer lab. If you have questions and/or are interested in helping, please contact me, lshimoda@moanaluapto.org
Together we can make our school a great place to learn, work and live.
Mahalo,
Lori Shimoda
MESPTO president
